Purinton Pottery Slipware. Purinton Pottery produced hand-painted pottery from 1936 to 1959. Key facts about Purinton Slipware:  Production Period: 1936-1959.  Manufacturing: Produced by the Purinton Pottery Company in Wellsville, Ohio, and later in Shippenville, Pennsylvania.  Technique: Used a unique casting method called slipware, involving liquid clay (slip) applied to the pottery's surface.  Decoration: Each piece was hand-painted, without stencils or decals, giving them a unique character.  Collectibility: Collectible for its handcrafted nature and vintage charm.  Durability: Known for being durable and usable, with dinnerware lines still valued.  Slip: A thin solution of clay applied to the outside of the pot for decoration.  Condition: It has been glued and a small chip on inside.
