(I have not heard that term before.) The outer plate is made of black ABS plastic; the base plate is made of zinc plated steel. That the outer cover is plastic is not obvious. The outward look and feel is that of matte black metal. The base plate installs with the single black screw. The matte black cover snaps on over it.
