Claude Monet “Monets’ Studio Boat” Monet bought this boat in 1873 after moving to Argenteuil. He described it as a boat built of planks, and just big enough to set up his easel. This floating studio enabled him to paint views from the Seine that normally would have been inaccessible. Monet lived near the Seine most his life and painted the boat studio on several occasions.
