detailsgroup @cyninphilly Hi there, thank you for your interest! The tags don't say what the exterior is made of but it looks like a faux leather material. I've added a photo so you can see the depth measurements. Since this item is new with tags, I don't want to remove the chain from its packaging so I cannot confirm this exact measurement for you. cyninphilly your're welcome and thanks! do you have a way to address my first question about whether my phone will fit? I've studied the measurements and pics and I can't tell. I totally understand on the chain...more than the length of the chain I was curious what the chain actually looks like...any way to separate it a bit within the plastic bag to show a bit of what the individual links look like? thank you!

detailsgroup @cyninphilly I'm hesitant to answer your question without having your phone in hand and while it may fit, I think you would have trouble closing this fully so unless you feel confident I'd pass on this one.
