Chanel Cocktail Dress Asymmetric Black Wool Crepe Gilt Chains F/W '85 Rare LBD

Preowned, vintage Chanel asymmetric black wool crepe dress with gilt metal chains, from the F/W '85 collection, designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Made from black wool crepe, it features black silk bows at the shoulder and back with gold metal chains that cascade from the left shoulder and across the back. NOTE that this dress originally featured a one shoulder design with a very low back (see image 7 on left). Our client had Chanel add sheer mesh fabric to cover the right arm, neck and back in the late 1990s (she felt it was no longer appropriate to show that much skin), but it can be removed by a seamstress if one so desires. An original version of this dress sold at Sotheby's Paris auction for $3500 back in 2017. Authenticated by The Fashion Detective.& a copy of the COA will be included. Tagged Chanel Boutique. Wool section is lined in silk. No content or care label; dry cleaning recommended. No size tag, fits like a modern M. Approximate measurements: shoulders - 17in; bust - 38in, waist - 29in; hips - 38in, sleeve - 24in, shoulder to hem - 39in. Note that mesh fabric has approximately 1/2 inch of comfortable stretch. Preowned/vintage (40+ years old) with some signs of age, use and prior wear: we note some very tiny abrasions to the wool fabric near the rear zipper section at the lower back. The rear bow covers this from view, but it can be seen when inspecting closely or with magnification. The zipper also requires some manipulation to zip up or down in this area
