COACH 1941 Runway 2017 Mixed Print Collar Dress Paisley Pleats Blue Black Size 2

A modern take on vintage style, this free-flowing georgette dress from the Coach 1941 Fall 2017 Runway features a gold paisley pattern on a black background, sheer blue floral-print *pleated* inserts in the skirt, the same contrasting pattern pleated at the chest -- edged with a petite ruffle, a faux Peter Pan collar in black, and Coach's signature Tea Rose trim. The midi-length dress also has three gorgeous (and probably collectible) amber and silver rose-shaped buttons at the neck. (My dress still has the extra attached.) It's like a rock 'n roll prairie dress. But the rebellious girl gangs to whom the Spring 2017 Collection was targeted have now ostensibly matured enough to appreciate a more sophisticated design along with complex and impeccable construction. Make no mistake: For all its quirky and flirty charm, this dress is a masterwork. There's no keeping a brilliant designer down. Stuart Vevers may be a rebel but he clearly has a cause. The first three years of this British creative director's stewardship of Coach saw him explore all things Americana, including a spectacularly successful Spring 2017 show in which he was channeling Elvis and bikers.
