CHANEL * Runway Cut-Away Flirty Denim Dress 38 6 2003 03P

Designed by Karl Lagerfeld and featured heavily on the Chanel runway, this dress explores a flirtatious side of Chanel and comes from a time when Lagerfeld was playing with Japanese and over-dyed denim. It is especially rare because this still includes the fuchsia embroidered belt detail - most owners removed them. The dress is exactly as shown on the runway so you can see how beautiful it is on the moving body. The fabric is a stretch-cotton chambray (97% cotton, 3% elasthane) with a denim effect but a lighter and bouncier fall. It is heavily tailored with a cut-out bodice, a girlish nipped-in bodice and then the cascade of pleats down the front and back. The side zipper is engraved Chanel and the enamel CC logo is on the front bodice. It is a French 38, and is cut slightly small. I would recommend for a 4-6 US. There is some stretch and it accommodates 32-34”bust, max 28”waist, 34-36”hip and is 34”long. It’s an exquisite world-class piece that is modern, youthful and fun. The dress was part of a private collection, worn around 5 times, cleaned and has been in cold storage. There is a general sense of faded denim which is in line with the over-dyed effect and it’s age. It is most noticeable at the armpit seam but as you can see, is more of a general feeling with no specific damage. The printing of the materials tag has faded.
