apricklycactus @moneyhunnie Hi! The cups aren't really cups and don't have a determinate size, but the straps/band do. Best fit will come from your normal swimsuit or top size!

The adjustable straps make it a lot easier - the crochet cups don't really do anything (which is difficult for me, because I don't have gravity-defying chest like the model but am a 36C). The best fit comes from the band! From a good bottom band fit (which is elastic but not adjustable, messing with the straps until I got a good fit in a size M is what worked best for me!

apricklycactus @goodsell Hi! Size XL's band size starts at 38", which leads me to think it will be on the loose side for a true 38" size. The band and straps are elastic and straps adjustable - I'd go for a large for a flattering fit!

apricklycactus @allisonkern Hi! Sorry for a late reply! The size medium is recommended for a maximum band size of 36", which would give a nice & snug fit. The size large is recommended for band size 36" to 38", which would give a more loose fit for a 36" band size. I'd recommend a size medium because I prefer a snug fit in these bralettes, but the overall fit preference is up to you!

apricklycactus @notcontagious Hey! Thanks for asking! The manufacturer's size chart shows their waistband size recommendation, and I added flat-lay measurements I took by hand. Some prefer flat-lay measurements so they can flat-lay measure their own items for comparison.

apricklycactus @notcontagious Yes, the bands are stretchy elastic. The cups are crochet with no molding or padding, the typical bralette form (it doesn't give any support).
