From Big Fly’s website: The Design: We arrived at this design as a result of a conversation we were having regarding our approach to a Mickey Mantle graphic. It took a matter of two simultaneous texts to arrive at our No. 4 Train design. The ‘Iron Horse’ was graceful on and off the field. A true gentleman of the game, Henry Louis Gehrig showed everyone what it was like to show up every single day and give it everything he had. His record of 2,130 consecutive games stood the test of time until Cal Ripken, Jr. broke the mark on September 6, 1995 in Baltimore. Gehrig played from 1923-1939 amassing 2,721 Hits, 534 Doubles, 493 Home Runs, 1,995 RBIs and finishing with a career batting average of .340. A 2x MVP, 7x All-Star and batting champion, Gehrig’s career was cut short by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS - today we know it as Lou Gehrig's Disease). On July 4, 1939 at his farewell ceremony at Yankee Stadium, Gehrig addressed the Yankee faithful, calling himself, ‘the luckiest man on the face of the earth.’ Our No. 4 Train graphic is a tribute to one of the all-time great players/ambassadors our game has ever known.
