Took out of original wrapping for this photo shoot! Carolyn & Francine are “best friends” inspired by real life best friend doll makers: Mary Van Osdell & Jeannie Di Mauro. The BFF’s spent many happy doll making hours in Marys studio. One chilly evening they were making the same all bisque doll and as they slid them into the kiln for firing they jokingly called them best friends and so it began! Carolyn is a demure little girl dressed in a plaid school dress with a red purse matching her red socks. Francine is a mischievous red head with freckles. The artist, Jeannie began collecting antique dolls in the early sixties, and eventually began making reproductions of these antiques. She prides herself in making her dolls look exactly like the originals by using vintage fabrics, trims and authentic painting. These Heubach Factory reproductions are a copy of one of the first antiques that Jeannie purchased and is typical of the many sweet faced babies designed by Heubach. The artist has published many articles on painting and dressing reproductions of small antique dolls . Her dolls have won blue ribbons in juried doll shows. The artist hopes this authentic reproduction brings a bit of nostalgia to your day and perhaps a sweet memory of days long ago.
