It’s probably an upholstery weight also No inside pockets just an open bag Heavy wool fabric is old and ‘flakes’ a little. I think it’s just the old fibers. It’s not tearing. suzyqinmalibu I can give you more information about this bag, because I was the designer! This bag was made circa 1970s-1980’s in my family’s factory located in Los Angeles Ca under the brand, Berny’s Baggery”. You guessed correctly about the fabrics being upholstery weight! The original retail price in the 1970’s was approximately $14-18.00 Please feel free to contact me if your interested in more information, and/or you come across any more “Berny’s Baggery” bags.

kuratorkelli @suzyqinmalibu btw, I found it in Bend, Oregon. I’m always drawn to 70’s brown/orange/green 😀. I was young in the 70’s but I have vivid memories. Did you keep any of these for yourself?

suzyqinmalibu @kuratorkelli I’m so glad that you like the bag and are interested in the background information. It’s so heartwarming to me when I come across our bags. The label should’ve been sewn in, but who knows what happened to it after all these years. I only have 2-3 of our bags now. ☹️ It’s okay.

I was rummaging through my parents garage and found an adorable bag I wanted to give to my friend, and my mom told me she’s had this bag since she was 17 and I had to keep it! Haha. I saw the label Berny’s Baggery sewn inside and was trying to google it with not much luck! So cool to read a little about the history!
