Bates Martha Washington's Choice Bedspread Full SizeCotton. The Martha Washington’s Choice Bedspread is the most iconic terry bedspread ever produced by Bates. Released in 1940 under the name “George Washington’s Choice”, it was the first hobnail bedspread to ever be woven on a mechanical loom. This vintage bedspread pattern is a replica of the handwoven candlewick bedspread that George Washington lovingly gave to his bride, Martha, on their wedding day. It quickly became a household favorite and continues to be our number one seller today. The steadfast favorite has been in continuous production for over 80 years and during that time has also been labeled “America’s First” and simply “George Washington”. Specifications Weight Class: Heavyweight Bedspread Fringe & Finish Details: Finished with knotted string fringe on three sides. 21 inch drop at the sides and foot (includes fringe), with rounded corners at the foot.
