Some 30 years ago, the first Cracker Barrel Old Country Store opened for business in the small town of Lebanon, Tennessee. It seems Dan Evins had an idea while traveling with his family out of town one day. He though folks would welcome an old-fashioned restaurant that served up big portions, good conversation and a little old-time fun. From this idea, Cracker Barrel was born and the first store was opened in 1969. From the rockers on the porch to the cast iron in the fireplace, the porcelain tea pots in the store and the peppermint sticks by the register, each Cracker Barrel still feels like a real old-fashioned country store just like that very first one. Even the name Cracker Barrel comes from the old days when a lot of goods were sold right out of wooden barrels. Today with more than 420 locations in 40 states, Barbie is sure to find a quiet front porch, a game of checkers and some good country cookin' wherever her travels take her.
