Lately I have noticed an increase in scams here on Poshmark, and in hopes to help prevent it from happening in my closet I am taking some precautions. 1. I video record all my orders of there condition, and record myself packaging them. 2. I receive a receipt and tracking # for all items dropped off at the Post Office. 3. I photograph every item of its condition and of the package the item is shipped in. I do this for the buyers protection and for mine.

fab_fashionista Its such a shame that sellers have to go through all of this because of a few bad people. I have noticed an increase in scam comments on my listings lately (especially anything high end which gets a comment about emailing or texting almost immediately). Have you recently had any direct scams from buyers?

turtlewhisperer @fab_fashionista Hi ladies. I was just going to ask what this scamming was, I haven't seen this yet, well, until I read your comment, fab_fashionista. I listed a WHBM dress yesterday and right after I listed it I got a comment on it to please send this info to my wife, and he left an email address. Of course, I didn't do it and I now know what this is. Thank you @allies_attic for posting this, I learned something today. How despicable!

fab_fashionista @afish56 hi there! Yes, it’s been getting out of hand lately. I’ve been working with the posh team on trying to resolve the situation. Best thing to do for now is to report and block those account and to never email them. I’m happy you played it safe! ❤️

nesafashionstop
nesafashionstop Hello, I have a question buyer made an offer on expensive watch, how I can protect myself as a seller . $900 watch. And buyer had very little activity or information on her account. Should I videotape condition of the watch and how I pack the watch? Should I accept an offer and try my luck with this buyer? I am new on Poshmark, from December. Sold several items. But I am a little hesitant about this buyer, do not know why. But this one is expensive item.

allies_attic
allies_attic @nesafashionstop is it the person that commented about her wrist size? I would record yourself packaging the item, and make sure to record until the point you put the shipping label on too. I’m sure it will be fine but it’s always best to take precautions. :)

nesafashionstop
nesafashionstop @allies_attic no it’s another person, and she didn’t ask any questions... I went to her profile page, it is kind of empty... no shares, no reviews... no information at all , all I see she is on Poshmark from 2016 with not much followers .... I left her a message , asking if she has any additional questions for me before I accept her offer ... I am waiting for her reply....

allies_attic
allies_attic @nesafashionstop I can’t see her page it says user not found and couldn’t find it when searching either. I would wait to see if she responds. And if she doesn’t then I wouldn’t accept the offer. Or you can but make sure that you record your packaging and shipping. I usually only accept offers from people whom I’ve had some written communication with. But in the end it’s up to you. Poshmark will protect you. But it’s still scary.

allies_attic @nesafashionstop no worries!! I found her page. She’s never purchased anything on poshmark before I don’t think. She may have had the account for a long time and just never used it. I would wait until she responds. I think it’ll be okay. But I wouldn’t accept the offer until she replies and if she doesnt before the offer expires she can make a new offer.

devynnsullivan I'm new and was commented on by someone named Jane Whye/Jane Foster from IA who wants a $400 bracelet of mine. I contacted her email and she proceeded to say that she wanted my item for that price and to email her my name, address to send a cashier's check to and phone for any issues. She'd wait until the check to clear my bank and then for me to send the item to her daughter. Is this copacetic or not? I checked out her listing and there are several with nothing for sale.

vanvicel hello! looking for help here. I shipped a mint condition sweater (I check every item thoroughly before shipping), and the buyer just opened a case saying that it is stained with a photo of huge stains. it looks like it was bleached, and the fabric is clearly wet in the photo. If it is returned, it will be trashed because it's been ruined. Any suggestions?

mqmidway Hi there! Thank you for sharing this information. I’m fairly new on PM received an offer for a luxury item. I checked the person and their profile has nothing other than they joined in 2016. She’s messaged me via her bundle so her messages are not seen on the item. I’m worried that she may claim it hasn’t arrived or some other way to scam. I’m prepared to video boxing it, sale is under $400 so no signature is required. Any suggestions on what else I can do to protect myself?

em_bee3 Hi all, My shop is new today. Within 10 mins got a message from a buyer with a sketchy name; all letters and vowels that are mismatched. She asked me to email her more photos. I have been reading some not great things re buyers scamming sellers by damaging/returning items. Is it common to have problems? I will be selling lots of shoes that are brand new or very lightly worn so if there is a return I want my item to come back like I sent it. What happens if it come back worn?

epjnsmith Hello, new to PM, as a seller. I posted a pair of shoe this morning and in a few seconds, someone responded and wanted me to send more pics to her work email. I did not. Is this a scam. Also, I list a Gucci item and PM removed my item, stating counterfeit. I know for a fact that it wasn't. I tried to appeal, but I guess I did not know what I was doing. I have since sold the wallet, but how do I make sure that never happens again? Thanks

If it was damaged during the shipping process or stolen do they have it insured where I’m not out all that money??

wellesley311 @tami_4 Hi Tami, just wanted to know what happened to your sale? Did they return the bag to you? exactly the same Happened to me yesterday, my Gucci bag was at their facility being authenticated, then they canceled the sale and told me they can't locate the bag. It's under investigation now. This never happened before, I really don't know what to do now.
May 06Reply
tami_4
tami_4 @wellesley311 Poshmark told me my bag was stolen. They refunded the buyer and after the investigation they gave me the money I would have made on the sale. As long as you keep you receipt from usps when you dropped off that shows the weight you should be ok. If I sell anything else that has to be authenticated I will video me boxing the item and make sure it’s detailed.
May 06Reply
wellesley311
wellesley311 @tami_4 exactly the same thing happened to me, they said the box was empty and they can't locate the bag. Unfortunately I didn't save a receipt from the post office, I sent multiple items to Poshmark for authentication before, this is first time something like this happened.

gsc03 Hi ladies!☺️ I have a question.I accidentally sent the wrong item to my buyers.I reported it to poshmark &they send the 2 buyers NEW shipping labels to be able to send correct items to each other. I have been in communication with 1 buyer but the other buyer isn’t being responsive. I know the buyer has buying protection but as a SELLER do I have seller protection, just in case one of the buyers doesn’t return the correct item to the right person? Hope someone can help
Jun 11Reply
allies_attic
allies_attic @gsc03 has poshmark support been in contact with you other than the new labels? If poshmark is aware of the incident than you should be fine! I would keep trying to make contact with the other buyer. If for some reason they don’t make the return poshmark should reimburse both you and the buyer. You have the ball rolling in the right direction so I wouldn’t stress too much 💗

polishedone1 @nesafashionstop Hi! Same situation, someone purchased a $700 watch, but their page is basically bare. They’ve been on since 2019. I video all my expensive transactions, even the postman scanning & passing the receipt. But my concern is the same, they can try to return with a fake item in the place of my real item. I haven’t accepted it yet. Don’t want to judge solely on that, as there are many reasons some want to remain anonymous when purchasing “second hand” items. Let me know. Thanks!
