A nicely detailed and very shiny tie tack of Benjamin Franklin turned in profile has the letters FMCS at the bottom. The letters stand for Franklin Mint Collectors Society. Some of the letters have lost the black ink, otherwise the tie tack is in good pre-owned condition. Franklin measures 7/16-inch wide x 5/8-inch high. backing is a locking pin clasp with a chain. I am not sure how one became a member of the society, I can only guess that it may have been donation based. The Franklin Mint was a private mint founded by Joseph Segel in 1964 in Wawa, Pennsylvania. For five decades The Franklin Mint produced and mass marketed "collectibles". Its product line began with manufacturing and marketing privately minted gold and silver commemorative rounds and medallions. The associated Franklin Mint Museum closed in 2004 and has since been dismantled. The Franklin Mint went online in 2020 and is still operating. You will receive your Benjamin Franklin tie tack in a soft velvet gift pouch shipped in a USPS small flat rate box.
