"Country, Bluegrass, Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers" CBGB was a legendary New York City music club that launched the careers of many punk and new wave bands in the 1970s and 1980s Many bands played at CBGB, including the Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, Patti Smith Group, Television, Dead Boys, and Joan Jett. CBGB closed in 2006 after 33 years. Patti Smith played the final show at the club.
