Atomic Mod Server MCM Lucite Ice Bucket Space Age Dome Mid Century Food Chiller

Minimalist. Mod. Just so cool. Late 1960-early 1970s. Large Mid Century Space Age / Atomic design Ice Bucket / Food Chiller in lucite — translucent Blue-Smoke color with an opaque White insert. The round lid sits atop a cylindrical base and, with the inverted white dome visible through the acrylic, it appears like an egg floating in space. As an ice bucket or wine/food server, it is a perfect example of form meets function—e.g., the design allows you to use the egg-shaped white interior as an ice bucket OR as a server for chilled drinks or food (gazpacho, fruit, ice cream, etc) by placing the ice in the receptacle surrounding it. Designer / maker unknown, but likely Guzzini, Thermalene (dome-a-lene), Eagle or Tasty Temp. Separates into three parts for easy cleaning. * One of several Lucite Servers Iisted in my closet* SIZE: Measures between just over 13” H x 10.5” diameter. Large enough for two bottles, if desired. It has a 6-quart capacity. CONDITION: Overall smooth without any chips or cracks and presents beautiful, but does have some minor surface scratches and discoloration in the interior of the white insert consistent with age and use.
