I hand crafted this one-of-a-kind necklace from genuine sponge coral, not the plasticized and reconstituted pieces that are sold in lower end jewelry. I purchased the coral 15 years ago but never used it until now. Today it is much more difficult and expensive to obtain genuine coral for jewelry because of the protections and restrictions placed on harvesting it, so this piece is only going to rise in value. I would literally be charging over $250 for this piece if I had to buy the coral beads today, so I probably won't be making any more after this. The sterling clasp, fish pendant and shells are all good, solid, large and beautifully detailed. I buy my clasps, beads and many of the sterling pieces, including those used in this necklace from a Thai co-op where the profits go to funding village services such as a school and micro-loans for village women who want to start businesses. This statement piece will go with everything from jeans to gowns. This necklace is Brand New and professionally crafted in a smoke free home. Please check out my other jewelry and decorative items. I am an artist and writer, and make these pieces and decorative items to augment my retirement income.

live_luv_shop Hi, Thank you for your interest in my coral and sterling necklace, I made it using Beadalon 49 strand beading wire. It was probably an .018', but I might have been even heavier wire. I just can't remember at this pont. I do try to always use the most durable materials including my beading wire, so I would have used as large a wire as could be used with the beads.
