Art Deco? Covered silver tone box

I have no idea what this box is used for. The only markings on it are JD on the bottom. It is a round silver tone, maybe stainless steel? With a removable insert that has a star pattern in it. I’m assuming Art Deco as my sister was a HUGE collector and this is from her estate.
