What generation is this iPhone? When did you get it? What do you mean maximum battery at 82% ? Not at 100? Is there a battery issue, does it hold a charge for a long time? Or does the charger go down fast weather you use it or not?

@jenn123456 it’s 2nd generation battery life is at 82 percent. Which means when iPhone is charged at 100 percent only 82 cells are charged instead of 100. It eventually will need a new battery. It’s always been in an otter box. The iPhone is approximately 5 years old.
