These sweet dolls are something special and date to at least the Civil War era. The mother is dressed in a blue chintz shift dress and the daughter in a simple white, which lends a very sad credibility to the likelihood that these were crafted by and for American slaves, as this style of dress was deemed immodest for their white counterparts. The hair seems to be mohair or some other fiber and mother and daughter’s features are hand-stitched. It is hauntingly touching that this pair has remained together over the decades (centuries?) and it is my hope that they will remain so. Mother is 21” in length and daughter is 11”.

@parisgirl2005 Hello, the fabric used for their clothing and body’s construction are era-accurate and show significant age that is virtually impossible to fake. The facial stitching is another era-specific feature that lends credibility as a whole. The other reasoning for the price is that these two are a set and always have been. That said, I have a ton of wiggle room on these. All of my prices are negotiable! Thanks!
