Antique handmade spongeware milk jar

This handmade spongeware milk jar will hold almost 2 quarts. It was bought over 50 years ago in an antique store in the Smokey Mountains. Spongeware was very popular with the Appalachian people at the turn of the century. The age of this piece is unknown, but I have owned it for over 50 years. It has a small nic on the outside edge which is shown in the pictures.
