Mustache Mugs were invented in 1870 and have a half-moon shaped opening near the lip of the cup to allow the passage of liquids while serving as a guard to keep mustaches dry. This unique style of cup stopped production between the 1920s and 1930s , as mustaches progressively faded out of fashion. Now, these antique cups are a coveted collector's item!
This mustache mug has a gold trim and was made in Bavaria between the late 1800s and early 1900s. Stamp reads "made in Bavaria" with a Red Lion emblem, which is for Mark Lehmann Arzberg.
This mug does show signs of wear and gold loss, as is expected with age and use. Please review all photos for details. Sold "as-is".
