Antique Victorian 1800s black French jet glass beads mourning tassel necklace

Great antique condition, beaded tassel has either been restrung or reinforced with visible clear twine at some point and metal mesh connector shows significant verdigris buildup though luckily much is hidden between the stark black glass beads. This gorgeous necklace is a true mourning piece, with every primitive “cant” bead cut by hand. Its obvious influence on Art Deco jewelry would be apparent in the 1920s though this piece predates the Jazz Age by around 40 years. The largest round beads measure 18mm.
