Antique Tribal Ethnic Status Shell Necklace

A fantastical piece, this shell necklace is something out of a hero’s quest. The center shell is heavily banded in an ombré of rich browns and tans, almost orange, almost burgundy, a kind of song to the ocean that looks like a mountain, shares stories of the desert…Scheherazade would have a field day with this for inspiration. Stations of hand carved jasper are separated by wound coils of copper, a suede knot showing on each side, like another bead. It’s rich, rustic, textural, tribal, bohemian, one of a kind, and absolutely beautiful. Hand crafted, hook & loop closure. Vintage, in excellent condition with some expected patina. The jasper beads are very, very old, probably middle eastern in origin. 25” total length Shell drops 2 1/4”
