Collector's Piece!!!
Annette Kellermann was arrested in 1907 for showing her legs when she stepped out in public in a 1 piece swimsuit!
1926-1928 Annette Kellermann bathing suit ~ (One of the same can be seen on display at the MET museum online.) Great to wear, but great historical piece too.
Annette Kellermann. She was a actress and a women's right's activist. She fought for us, women, to have the right to wear swimsuits in the early 1900s.
She was also an author, a swimmer, AND she was the first woman to appear in a nude scene in a movie!
She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 1952, Esther Williams played the part of her in Million Dollar Mermaid.
This bathing suit came from a swim line of hers. The same one is on display at the MET museum and can be seen online if you google metmuseum annette kellerman.
It is wool and has two buttons over one of the shoulders.
It is in wonderful condition. It has one little hole but has no other flaws.
The measurements are as follows ~
32" long
37" bust
38" waist
42” hips
my apologies. I had it stored next to a white rabbit fur from the 50s. I need to use the lint brush again. yikes!
