A silver match holder from the 1890’s -early 1900’s. Hallmark reveals it was made in England. The holder protected matches in the strong silver case. It has a link to hang it from a chain. Ridged bottom is for striking the match. Beautifully crafted. Note: there is a residue of old silver polish on it and tarnish on small hinges. Otherwise in good antique condition.

I am so sorry that I overlooked your question. The lion passant icon in the middle of the 3 squares is the standard mark indicating 925 silver per a reference. It does not have a “ Sterling” mark on it.
