Antique Steuben Glass I believe it’s called a bud vase🤔 Small Vase w etched bird design This was a wedding gift given to my grandmother from the president of Marshall Fields Looks to be Unsigned Excellent Condition - shows minor signs of age but nothing that affects its overall appearance. Very small crack in inner lip area (see pic) *Feel Free to educate me on Steuben Glass! My guess is this is either way over or under priced🤔 NOTE - please check out the conversation below for more information about this piece!

cheeruon Hi if it’s a real Steuben he wrote in cursor etched right on the glass and usually on the bottom of his pieces I Researched it on the Internet that’s how you can tell if it’s a real Steuben

thefjordsandi @cheeruon that makes sense, although for this one, I believe it’s still authentic Steuben glass but it might be a factory/artisan “second” that didn’t make the cut to be sold due to a tiny air bubble near the bird etching. I know it was gifted to my grandma back in the late 1940’s by the president of Marshall Fields department store so my thinking is the store sold Steuben glass & he came into possession of it through dealings w/ the Steuben manufacturers.

thefjordsandi @cheeruon …This is obviously speculation but to me that sounds more likely than it not being authentic Steuben: )

cheeruon @thefjordsandi hi you would have to Research 1940 Marshall Field stores and see if they sold Steuben glass and also Research if Steuben ever etched birds on his glass or anything to that effect because all the steuben that I have seen in my lifetime I’ve seen no etchings on the glass it was just pure glass but I could be wrong thanks!

cheeruon All legitimate Steuben Glass pieces are signed in diamond script—usually on the bottom of the base. No pieces left the factory in Corning unless they were deemed 100% and properly signed. You are right on the store selling the glass so it’s probably a Steuben unfortunately it’s not signed it’s a beautiful piece at this point you can put any price you want on it and the fact that it has that history with your grandmother I would say it’s A legitimate Steuben piece

cheeruon @thefjordsandi just did some more research the store did sell the glass and it could of been a second due to the imperfections so as not to be signed for market he did hire many artists over the years to do his etchings and designs and the fact that it has that wonderful history with your grandmother it’s definitely a Authentic Steuben piece
