Antique Sterling Silver Black Onyx Marcasite Bar Brooch Pin This gorgeous Antique Bar style Brooch pin is a little difficult to date. I do feel confident in aging this piece between 105 to 130 years old. This fantastic unisex design is very much "Classic Art Deco"- however, by the time the Art Deco era was booming the "Safety clasp" catch most people are familiar with today had become the normal standard. This piece features a sturdy "C" Catch with a pin bar that isn't significantly extended, which makes me believe that this piece dates to the very end of the Victorian (and "Mourning Jewelry") era, or very early (likely no later than 1920) Art Deco era. Rectangular Black Onyx bezel set at center with fine fluted edging, Stunning Marcasite and pebble detailing come together in a solid Sterling Silver base to create this simple, but elegant piece. Beautiful for both men and women! This brooch is in incredible condition considering age. Shows only minor wear (see pin bar photo) very light surface scratches, beautiful patina, No missing stones!
