Antique Silver Plate Roll Top Butter Dish or Caviar Dish

Antique butter and caviar dish from possible from the late 1700’sin oval-shaped silver plate with revolving lid. These revolving dishes were used for various purposes: butter or caviar were placed on the plate. It rests on four legs with a specific workmanship (see photo) for the period, 7.5 cm high. The coat of arms is engraved on the domed lid with two crowned lions with a shield with the crown on top in the middle (see photo). Hallmarked, mark used in 1773. The conditions of the revolving dish are very good. The rotating lid makes it easier to take the butter or caviar and replace it. Suitable for keeping butter always fresh, on the refrigerator shelves, nice to bring to the table. Material: believed to be Sheffield, silver plated.
