A very rare pair of antique Marigold Carnival Glass car flower vases with original brackets. It is very unusual to find an intact pair with their original brackets and no damage. These were originally sold by early car dealers for Model A and Model T Ford cars. These are made of Marigold color Carnival glass. The brackets are metal, The vases sit it the metal holders. The first care vases came into existence around 1895. They were screwed into one of the car’s hard surfaces such as a dashboard or an A or B pillar. A small sprig of flowers or a single bud was then placed in them to freshen the car air or just to look pretty. Since there was no air conditioning or sun roofs in that era these were the first air fresheners! They were considered quite elegant. I had these mounted in my wall in my entryway, one above the other, and kept fresh flowers in them. They looked beautiful and never failed to garner attention or a comment as they are so unusual and rare. You could also mount them on either side of a door or window. They would look fabulous on either side of a mantle or in a kitchen or bathroom, even a porch. These have very minor wear and no chips or cracks. Both scalloped tops are intact as are both tips at bottom. A truly stunning and eclectic collectors item and one you won’t see anywhere else. These can work in any style of decor and definitely spark a conversation. They are becoming almost impossible to find in an undamaged pair. RARE.
