Antique Satsuma 7 Immortal Luck Gods Button Clip Earring Hand Painted Porcelain

These antique buttons are very old and date from sometime during the Meiji period circa 1880’s. They have a hole post on the reverse side which is characteristic of the construction of these Satsuma buttons of the time period. Sometime during the early midcentury silver clip-backs were attached to make a matching set of beautiful earrings. If carefully dissembled these buttons could be restored to their original purpose and attached to clothing using the original hole post, however we feel that these repurposed antique buttons are much more flattering and useful in their current incarnation as earrings. Meticulously hand painted/gilt scene portraying the 7 Gods of good fortune. An array of bright saturated colors and the heavy use of gold enamel, make these elegant button earrings really spring to life.
