This bespoke antique cross pendant speaks across the decades. The trinity facet pattern is extremely rare, as detailed in the comments. There are seventeen pale stormy blue sapphires (approximately 1.25 carats total) set in an open back modified sawtooth setting, hand wrought in sterling silver. The setting is unsigned, but the hand of the artisan is seen clearly in the hand worked prongs that hold each gemstone. 1 5/8" long and 1" wide.

As for the trinity faceting on each gem, neither of my jewelers had ever seen it though both agreed that it was "very old." Research found no examples or documentation of that facet pattern (or any pattern reasonably close to it) any time during the 20th century. I've begun looking at Victorian era documentation, but so far it seems this pattern may predate those pieces as well.

The bail is a new sterling silver piece to replace the old one which seemed out of place; It was likely a replacement for the original bail at some point. The total weight is just under 5 grams.

Lovely!!

perhaps the faceting on the sapphires is a custom, ooak work of the one who crafted the pendant
