In 1891, Japanese artisans began marking their pieces with the word Nippon to comply with the McKinley Tariff Act, which required all porcelain to bear the name of the country that produced it. comes this beautiful hand painted and gilt decorated porcelain . The unique shape, shell feet,. The hand painted decorations surrounding each piece consists of Geisha geometric designs, outlined and highlighted with gold. The oriental feet, handles, finials and borders are also heavily decorated with gold.
the sugar bowl measures 6 1/2" from handle-to-handle, 5 1/2" across and 3 3/4" in height; It is marked in gold with the Nippon Oriental China marking. The design is breath-taking.
