A highly decorative Early 20th Century Antique English Edwardian Pottery Vases of baluster
made by A.G. Harley Jones of Royal Vienna Art Pottery, Fenton, Staffordshire, { 1907 - 1934 }.
The vase attractively painted with a colourful pastoral scene, reserved upon a lemon yellow ground, the handles with gilt highlighting.
Height 10 1/2 inches, width/depth ~ 5 inches . Year ~ Circa 1910.
The base fully marked with the printed gilt Maker's Mark of the period, viz :- A Lion Passant above a Crown within a Floral Wreath, with the words "Made in England" below, this together with the indistinct raised moulded number, 1188, possibly a pattern number and a letter "W".
That's the mark of A. G. Harley Jones out of Fenton (Staffordshire), England. That mark was used from 1907 to about 1934. They made earthenware (vases, decorative items, etc.) and some china. They produced pieces for a time under the brand name of "Wilton Ware".
I believe the number on the bottom is 879. I put a paper over it and scratched with a pencil, and that is what I can read
NO CRACKS OR MARKS. EXCELLENT CONDITION
