In the Victorian era, a hostess had specific vessels for serving coffee, tea and chocolate.
The chocolatière or chocolate pot was designed to be tall and slender, allowing for the chocolate to be stirred when chocolate had settled at the bottom.

@marusiac Yes, the interior is clean. I uploaded a video (14 seconds) that shows the interior and some of the exterior. the key when lifting the piece is to use both hands - one on the handle and one under the base (.e.g., support by base edge). The handle can crack due to weight.
