Antique Japanese Noh Masks Carved Wood Decorative Mask on Fan Shaped Display

I found these wonderful hand carved Asian faces at an estate sale where the homeowner had lots of Asian pieces. These appear to be Japanese Noh masks. They were developed early in Noh's history and are used for portraying demons, goblins and other worldly creatures. Noh can be divided into five different categories God, man, woman, madwoman demon. These two faces appear as a man. They have been carved from a native Asian wood, and the fan board also. Each smiling faces has been mounted to a fan shape backboard with silk burgundy ropes. There are Japanese symbols carved between the two smiling faces. And I'm sorry I don't know the translation. If anyone does, please let me know. There is a silk cord that runs through the backboard so that this piece can be hung to display. Condition is excellent vintage condition. Just some very light wear. See photos.
