Antique Japanese Hand-Painted Cinnabar-Red Lacquered Box No Key

Purchased from an estate sale. Lovely Japanese cinnabar-red lacquer box features a skillfully hand-painted design of flowers and a bird in flight, in gold gilt with pink highlights. The inside of the box is black. The box itself is wood. The lid has metal hinges and a lock with a silver-tone metal escutcheon. The lock will work if you can find the right key. This box would be nice for storing tea bags, jewelry, note cards, pens, etc. or just to look pretty.
