Glass Onion bottle. These Continental era bottles were created from 1650-1850. This one is probably from the 1700’s and was purchased in the 1980’s in Surinam. It has a booklet which is included with your purchase.
These bottles were hand blown and were used on ships to store wine or brandy. The heavy bottoms were made to balance the bottles during rough seas . This one has a round belly… a nice big indentation or “Horsehoof” on the bottom. Rope indentation on the lip of bottle. True pirate booty, most of these unique relics were discovered in and around shipwrecks.
There is still sediment inside the bottle… it could be cleaned, but I’m going to keep it authentic. Nice dark green color.
Condition: Antique, with sediment. No cracks.
Dimensions approximately: 8.5 inches tall, neck is 4.5 inches, 18 inches circumference at widest part of bottle.
Booklet written in Dutch and English is included, some of the pages are loose/ have separated from the book but are also included.
Thanks for looking, check my closet for other unique items. Have a lovely day! ☀️
