Antique GF Watch Chain Rope Necklace with 10k Gold & Opal Slide Pendant; 72”

This is a magnificent Victorian era watch chain. It features 72 glorious inches of yellow gold filled, rope style chain; a large, antique spring ring closure; and a solid, 10k yellow gold slide that has a lovely little Gypsy set opal. I love the versatility of this piece- when you’re not using it to secure your timepiece, it can be worn as a double or quadruple strand necklace, or used to display a special pendant. Very nice. ***Measurements (approximate): Rope chain is 72” long x 2.5 mm diameter. Slide is 0.4” x 0.32” x 0.22”. ***Materials: Chain is 1/20 12k GF. Slide is between 10k to 14k solid yellow gold with a natural opal. ***Markings: “1/20 12k GF, BAB” on jump ring (BAB for Ballou). No markings noted on slide. ***Weight: 1.34 ounces total weight (I estimate that the slide is around 2 grams). ***Condition: Very good preowned antique condition, with normal signs of wear present commensurate with age. There is some wear to gold fill and minor scratches on slide. One end of the chain is attached to the spring ring closure in a slightly unorthodox fashion, but it was nicely done- please see photos. Clasp works great. Stone has some scuffs (visible upon 20X magnification), but is of excellent quality, with blue, yellow, pink, green, and purple iridescence.
