The work was created for the Gazette du Bon Ton, a Parisian fashion magazine published between 1912-1915 and 1919-1925. Gazette du Bon Ton was a small, but influential French magazine that catered to the upper class of Paris and highlighted the connections between art, fashion, beauty and lifestyle. It was founded by Lucien Vogel and was only published from 1912 to 1925. The magazine was exclusive and featured fine fashion plates on hand made "laid" paper with dramatic pochoir coloring.
