Antique Dean’s Mock Wicker Bon Voyage Box - Red Preowned in good condition for its age. See below. It sticks a little in the back of the lid, but is still easy to open by pulling on the folding tab. It has scratches, some rust, and red paint has worn off. The right side and front corner is missing the most paint. See picture. It doesn’t have a key which it might originally have come with. Latches. Has a top handle. Made in Germany exclusively for Dean’s 572 Fifth Avenue New York. This was originally filled with celebrated cakes from a fancy bakery on Fifth Avenue, New York, and was supposed to be given as a gift to reflect thoughtfulness for the voyager on a ship. This information is from an ad showing this tin from 1911. The bakery was established in 1839. Other tins have the address 628. I don’t know if they had more than one location or when they moved. It measures about 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches on the inside bottom. It measures about 7 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches on the inside top. It is about 6 1/2 inches deep. Measurements are shown in the pictures.
