SOLD.
Elgin Am Mfg Co Sterling Silver Cigarette Case; dated early 20th century.
Art Deco style is decorated with floral motifs all around at the inside and outside of the edges. The surfaces of the exterior and interior are a hammered design... A monogram with the lower case "E” is engraved in a lozenge diagram on the exterior. Inside the case is marked “Elgin Am. Mfg. Co.”, “Sterling Silver” and “Made in U.S.A.” on the spring hinge-operated clasp on one side, and “Sterling” on the other side, separately.
Elgin American Manufacturing Company (EAM), established in 1989, was a subsidiary of the Illinois Watchcase Company. The main objective of the EAM was to make novelty and vanity items including lockets, cigarette cases, charms, pins, buttons and other articles. As a major manufacturer of compacts and vanity cases since the 1920’s, the demand for their products seemed, at the time, to have no end.
Measures: 3 5/8” long x 3” wide x 5/16” thick; Weight, 3.3 oz (93.5 grams).
Condition: Very good, clean and polished; the clasping mechanism is in perfect working order.

@preppytrendy sadly, no. It’s about 1/8-1/4 of an inch too short.
