Early 19th Century Japanese Arita Porcelain Scalloped Dish Plate Ming Dynasty Chenghua Mark Blue Coral Floral Design with Gold Trim
A very lovely Japanese Arita porcelain dish dating from the first half of the 19th Century.
It has of barbed, circular form resting on a short footrim and rising to an everted rim. It is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze enamels and gilding with a central reserve of birds above flowering peonies surrounded by a band of radiating flowers and foliate. The rim has an irregular border and the back has further floral sprigs.
The base is signed with the six character mark "Da Ming Chenghua nien zhi" (Made for the Great Ming Emperor Chenghua).
Measurements:
5.25" Diam x 1" H
4.52 oz
Condition:
Very good vintage with no chips or cracks. The interior appears in good shape with minimal loss of gold trim. The rim likely had gold trim at one point which is missing. The underside embellishment also appears to be in good shape. Crazing found above the maker's mark. Normal wear for age and use. Please see all photos.
