Antique 14k Yellow Gold Sapphire Pin Brooch

A well-executed design with fine, intricate detailing. The smaller sapphire is set with the table side up as is customary, while the larger one is set table side down with the pavilion of the stone creating the rounded body of the beetle. This brooch dates to the early Victorian era. Gemstones: Two natural bright blue prong set sapphires. The smaller of the two stones measures approximately 5mm x 4mm with an estimated carat weight of .50ct. The larger sapphire measures approximately 6.5mm x 4mm with an estimated carat weight of .75ct for a total sapphire weight of 1.25ct. Metal: The pin portion is 14k rose gold while the bug is made of 14k yellow gold. Measurements: The beetle measures 15mm tall by 9mm wide. The pin measures 1.5 inches long.
