This is a SUPER rare, hard to find plate from this series. Collectible and sold out on Anthropologie. A letter X plate features six hand drawn teensy illustrations, scattered across the plate and connected by the dots until the marked spot. Figure 1 is a tiny cottage where the journey begins. Figure 2 is a glimpse of water, complete with sailboats and seagulls. Figure 3 is perfect cafe table, set with mugs of coffee for two. Figure 4 is a stand of five deep green pine trees. Figure 5 is an easel, set up with a painting in progress. Figure 6 (marked with the X) is a pair of loyal pooches, waiting patiently for their owner. I have to think this plate is autobiographical for the artist who loves to travel and maybe those are her dogs? This plate is completely charming from top to bottom. Calligrapher Diva Pyari collaborated with Anthropologie on this wonderful alphabet of plates. Pyari was inspired by vintage flash cards she collected while traveling and her illustrations are spot on. Her design is always anchored by her masterful caligraphy. This one cleverly reads “marks the spot” in Pyari’s gorgeous handwriting. So simple in its beauty. The plate is in perfect condition except for a couple bumps under the glaze and one mark underneath the two X’s (see pic). I have been collecting these for years and I’ve NEVER had an X!
