houstonhilton74 @davita_marie Amazon Kindles showing ads is determined based on the subscription plan of the user registered with the device rather than with the specifics of the device itself. As of time of writing, any registered Kindle user that is using a supported Kindle generation can do a one-time subscription cost to remove ads at about $20 directly to Amazon that affects any Kindle registered under their Amazon account.

davita_marie @houstonhilton74 ahhh gotcha. I always saw videos saying it was based on the Kindle. if they got ad supported or not (like they paid extra for the Kindle on Amazon to not have ads, not it being a subscription)

houstonhilton74 @davita_marie Some do have no ads by default, but if they don't have it explicit in the model number, it defaults to that Amazon account subscription model.
