Alva Studio Replica Caral Diety Brooch Vintage

This is a vintage gilded Pre-Columbian brooch of a deity with flute and rattle (?). The city of Caral-Supe, where the worship of such gods was prevalent, is considered one of the oldest cities in South America, predating Machu Pichu by 4000 years! The pin is in high relief and has a bright shiny gold finish that resembles the high carat gold of the original museum piece. Alva Studio Museum Replicas made beautiful copies of ancient artwork and antiquities in major museums. The pieces were then sold in the gift shops. The New York City studio dissolved in the late 1970's or early 1980's.
