Additional Photos - Vintage Yves Saint Laurent Mali Wedding Bead Style Necklace

Vintage Yves Saint Laurent glass bead collar necklace in a beautiful array of multicolor patterns. Silver toned metal clasp and YSL tag, with black textile or cord. The style is very reminiscent of a Mali wedding bead necklace or an African trade bead necklace. Saint Laurent was born and grew up in Algeria before moving to France to study design at 18, so African influences are frequently at work in his designs, though not always this clearly. I believe this necklace is also extremely rare (a vintage jewelry appraiser told me the necklace may have been a one of a kind piece, but they weren’t completely certain of that). The necklace is quite substantial. It’s about 26-28 inches in length depending on where you clasp it. Editing to note: I believe two of the beads on this necklace are made of uranium glass. The two photos showing it under UV are taken one each under the light of a 365 nm and 395 nm UV light.
