AW-INSPIRING 1930s' BROWN MESH STRAW WIDE BRIM HAT + HAT PIN

This is truly a show stopper hat from the 1930s'! The hat is made of chocolate brown straw that is woven loosely allowing it to look like it is see-through. The small, short and flat crown is surrounded by a brown grosgrain band in an almost rust color. There are 2 bows at each side.This hat is a tilt hat, meant to skit on top of the head. The very wide brim is edged in another, looser pattern, creating more interest. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to help keep it in place. There is a removable hat pin attached to the crown back side...see photo # 9. Label: NEW YORK CREATION The New York Dress Institute was formed in 1941 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert as a joint venture between the clothing manufacturers of New York City & the ILGWU. The label was created by a group of well-known designers who wanted to remain anonymous & wanted to support the New York Creation label & keep it competitive with French styles of the era. The label is small, white and blue & most of the time it states the hat size…22 or 23, or ADJUSTABLE. Please do not expect perfection! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
